Here at Surf Your Name, we have a lot of clients who love us a whole lot. So when one of those clients is the source of a new one, it makes us feel extra fuzzy inside! Richard Roy came to us at the suggestion of one of our other clients, because he was a big fan of the website we had built for them. Richard’s current website wasn’t bad, it was outdated and needed a bit of a makeover. That’s where we came in!
Virtual Accounting and Tax is a financial services business located nearby to us in Virginia Beach, Virginia, but which services people from all over the United States. They have over 20 years of experience and offer all kinds of services like tax preparation, budget planning, tax debt relief, and many more.
Richard had a great logo created for his business that looked very modern and fresh, and he was very excited about incorporating it into his new website design. We made sure to feature it front and center when a user first hits the web site. It was very important to Richard to be able to make updates to the web site text and images himself as needed, so we went with our all-time favorite platform, WordPress. We almost always create websites with WordPress because it’s extensible and great to work with as developers, but also easy to use and make edits with as a client.
On the aesthetic front, we went with a darker palette, because it was requested that we stayed away from using too much white as page backgrounds, and the client also wanted to use a color scheme similar to his logo. We used lots of blues and greys while adding a pop of green for some visual interest to important elements. We also tried to use some slightly fun elements on the site pages, like section dividers that resembled torn receipt paper, and an animation with math symbols to add some movement. The icon bar on the bottom of every page also has a color-shifting gradient as a more subtle movement to keep it interesting but not overwhelming.
Overall, this was a great project to work on! Every one of our clients is different and it’s always a fun challenge to adapt our skills and strengths to their needs. Richard loved his new site so much that he left us a wonderful 5-star review!
