A few months ago, the owner and management team at Reptiles Alive requested some more information about the web design and web development services we offer. After a few conference calls, Caroline and her team chose Surf Your Name to join their team to redesign their aging website.
Reptiles Alive has been in business for over 20 years in the Washington DC metro area. They provide fun and education live animal shows for schools, birthday parties, fairs, corporate events, and just about any other occasion you can think of. Their website was several years old and had a dated appearance. The ability to make updates to their website was a painstaking task and the website was not mobile-friendly at all. While the website was functional and had hundreds of pages, it needed improved and updated.
The first step of the project was to analyze their current website by getting a baseline visitor and search engine rank performance statistics. We then took the hundreds of pages their website currently had and re-organized them for easier navigation. By streamlining the navigation of the website, users are able to find information much easier with fewer clicks.
Once we had the basic navigation flow outlined we started working on the draft layout. We were able to incorporate a fun yet professional color scheme and a consistent look for all of the pages within the interior of the website.
We added a two-step online booking system which gave customers a simple way to book a live reptile show and provide all the information needed to start the booking process. We also added a custom event calendar option so all public events can be listed in an easy to find a way that included Google Map integration.

Caroline and her team didn’t stop with their new website. They have partnered with Surf Your Name for a new email marketing campaign, Facebook advertising, and Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising programs. They have already seen great results from the new website launch and it has only been a couple of weeks.
